Congratulations to Our Aspiring Tradesmen!

We are thrilled to celebrate the achievements of three of our senior students – Year 12 students Miles C, Joshua M and, Harvey O as well as Year 11 student Izacc M – who have recently embarked on exciting School-Based Apprenticeships.

Miles C has taken a significant step toward his future career as a carpenter. His journey began in Year 11 when he enrolled in a Certificate II in Construction Pathways at Western Technical College. The hands-on experience he gained with Lavia Carpentry over the Christmas break paved the way for this fantastic opportunity to join them as a school-based carpentry apprentice.

Joshua M has embarked upon a career as a plumber by commencing a TAPS school based plumbing apprenticeship with Adelaide West Plumbing and Gas. Joshua’s VET journey initially began in Automotive Technology at Western Technical College, but a work experience opportunity sparked a newfound passion for plumbing. This experience helped him realise his true calling, leading him to pursue this fantastic apprenticeship opportunity.

Izacc M discovered his passion for cabinetmaking in Year 10 through Western Technical College’s Construction Try a Trade program – a one-day-a-fortnight “taster” course. This experience inspired him to pursue his dream of working alongside his father in the family’s cabinet-making business, where he is now undertaking a cabinetmaking and timber technology apprenticeship.

Harvey O will begin an Electrotechnology School-Based Apprenticeship with Consolidated Power Projects (CPP) next week! This exciting opportunity allows Harvey to balance his education and career development by attending school three days a week, while dedicating the remaining two days to on-the-job training or trade school. At CPP, Harvey will work alongside a skilled team of tradespeople, gaining hands-on experience in assembling electrical protection panels used in commercial renewable energy projects. To further enhance his practical skills, Harvey will work full-time during school holidays and seamlessly transition to a full-time apprenticeship upon completing Year 12. We are incredibly proud of Harvey’s achievement and wish him every success as he builds a solid foundation for his future career.

We are incredibly proud of these students’ achievements and wish them every success as they build strong foundations for their future careers.
