Exciting Plans for our Sports Talent Development Program in 2025
Building on the success of our Elite Basketball program introduced in 2024, SMC is expanding its Sports Talent Development Program in 2025 to include even more sports, offering students a broader range of exciting opportunities.
This program is designed to foster holistic growth by providing students with enriching and rewarding experiences that support their athletic development and excellence. Participants will engage in specialised training, skill development sessions, workshops, and educational programs to enhance their talents and reach their full potential.
We look forward to a successful year.

Netball
Headlining our Talent Development Program in 2025 is the Adelaide Thunderbirds, Australia’s premier national netball team and reigning back-to-back champions. We are thrilled to announce their partnership with St Michael’s College.
This collaboration is a major boost for our already successful netball program, giving our aspiring netballers the invaluable opportunity to learn from some of the best coaches and players, not just in Australia but around the world. Stay tuned for more details on this exciting partnership!
Basketball
Following the success of the Elite Basketball program introduced in 2024, DJ Vasiljevic will continue working with the College and our students. As a star player for the Adelaide 36ers, and current Australian Boomers squad member, DJ has already built strong connections within the St Michael’s community.
He will be working closely with our co-curricular basketball teams while also leading an intensive ‘shooting program’ designed to develop the skills of our most talented basketballers.
Soccer
Adelaide United stars Isaias Sanchez and Sarah Morgan will be joining our soccer program in 2025.
Isaias, a former United captain with a decorated career, will work closely with our boys’ teams throughout the upcoming season, providing mentorship to both students and coaches.
Sarah, a key player for Adelaide United’s women’s team, will be working with our female soccer players during Term 1. She will lead a specialised four-week program in preparation for the Term 2 and 3 girls’ soccer season.
Golf
Following the continuing success of LIV Golf in South Australia, St Michael’s College is excited to partner with Grange Golf Club, offering students access to some of the state’s premier golfing facilities.
Through this partnership, students will receive professional coaching and the unique opportunity to play on the same course as some of the world’s top golfers.
Leadership
St Michael’s College has partnered with Bloom Leadership to offer an extensive leadership program for students aspiring to become future leaders. Bloom Leadership is led by former Australian Diamonds netball captain Natalie von Bertouch and ex-Port Adelaide AFL captain Tom Jonas.
The program consists of two phases: “Inspiring Leaders,” which supports our College Middle Years Leadership Program, and “Inspiring Athletes,” designed for Year 8 and 9 students. With their exceptional leadership experience, Natalie and Tom will provide valuable insights and guidance to our students.
Expression of Interest
If any or all of the above programs are of interest to students, please complete the Expression of Interest form by Wednesday, 12th February.
Please note: Some programs may have limited places, and additional information will be provided in the coming weeks.
