Communication Platforms

Our Communication Approach

Effective communication should be a collaborative approach between the College and families. The College uses a variety of essential channels to keep you informed and engaged, including email, phone, SEQTA, Consent2Go, Parent-Student-Teacher Interviews, The Star e-newsletter, St Michael’s College website and social media.

Email: Email is our primary method for disseminating key information to families. Please ensure that email addresses are accurate, current and regularly checked. What to expect via email:

  • Information directly related to your child, including pastoral notifications
  • SEQTA notifications
  • Community announcements
  • Co-curricular information
  • Key event information
  • Weekly newsletter

In line with the St Michael’s College Community Charter, staff are not expected to check or respond to emails outside of regular office hours or weekends. Staff will respond to emails within two working days. Please take the time to look at this document: St Michael’s College Community Charter

Phone: Our administration staff are available during business hours to handle enquiries, answer questions, process forms and take messages. Please note that R-12 teaching staff are not available to take calls during class time.

Parent-Student-Teacher Interviews: Interviews are held in Terms 2 and 3. It is an integral part of our engagement with families in the partnership of the care and development of our students.

E-Newsletter: The Star e-newsletter provides information from across our entire community. While not all content may be relevant to every family, this structure allows us to offer a comprehensive community perspective. What to expect via the weekly newsletter:

  • Weekly information, articles, images, event details, success stories, sporting results and calendar dates.
  • Emailed to all families and subscribers weekly.
  • The newsletter and past publications are also available on the College website: The Star E-Newsletter

The College website is a key source of information for both current and prospective families. It includes information on:

  • Curriculum, including Curriculum handbooks and Pastoral Care
  • Enrolment
  • Uniform requirements, online uniform shop and canteen
  • Policies and forms, including finance
  • Community information, newsletter and other publications such as the Maroon & Blue Community News
  • College Tour dates
  • College calendar dates
