70 Years in Reflection – The Journey of St Michael’s College

As 2024 draws to a close, so too does a remarkable milestone at St Michael’s College – our 70th anniversary. For seven decades, St Michael’s College has been a cornerstone of community, education and faith, forging lifelong friendships and leaving an indelible mark on generations of students, staff and families.

This year has been filled with moments of reflection and celebration, honouring the history and remarkable stories that have shaped the College. We were privileged to welcome back Old Scholars, including four of the original students from 1954, at a special morning tea. They toured the new $11 million Performing Arts Centre at the Primary Campus, experiencing the remarkable transformation of St Michael’s College. At the Secondary Campus, our Decade Reunions brought together over 200 Old Scholars and past and present staff for an evening of reconnection and cherished memories.

Our De La Salle Day celebrations carried special significance this year, rich with tradition and history. A meaningful liturgy honoured our 70-year legacy, providing students and staff with the opportunity to reflect on the journey of St Michael’s College, past and present. The day concluded with a vibrant ‘Festival of Youth’, inspired by the lively College fetes of the early years and undoubtedly a highlight for many.

To conclude this milestone year, we share a video reflection from Old Scholars, staff and former principals, offering a heartfelt tribute to the journey of St Michael’s College. Celebrating our past, achievements and future, the video provides a unique glimpse into the College’s evolution, particularly its early years. These stories serve as a testament to the vision and community spirit that built St Michael’s College, capturing the heart of our Catholic Lasallian heritage.
