Sophie Barker

Lasalle House Captain

As a leader I would describe myself as: kindhearted, being there for people, putting smiles on others, supporting and encouraging.

The things that I do that I am the proudest of are: my sports because I started playing basketball and netball from when I was 5 and haven’t stopped loving it since!

My favourite TV program is: Love Island

My greatest sporting moment is: winning an all time national championship for the first time at my club the Bearcats. I also won MVP of that tournament.

My favourite band is: One Direction

My favourite song is: All I Do is Win

Someone I admire: My Mum

My favourite book is: Harry Potter

Funniest moment in my life was: my dad jokes (they’re bad)!

In my spare time I like to: clean and sleep

The best thing about attending SMC is: Making friends and many memories that will last forever.

One chore I don’t like doing is: Dishes

Leadership means to me: leading by example, working in a team environment and not asking people to do something I wouldn’t be prepared to do.

I have pet: Cats whose name are Merlin and Ella

To be a Lasallian Leader means: an honour to represent my school and getting an opportunity to win for my house.

This year as a College Leader I wish to be best known as: to be approachable, wanting people to feel comfortable to come up to me and feel that they can talk to me.

Five words which best describe my personality are: bubbly, energetic, enthusiastic, funny and caring.

A person I most admire is: Alex Starling – a basketballer that has helped me develop when I was younger. He has now grown as a player and playing at the highest level he can which is the 36er’s.

If I could create one change for SMC in 2024 it would be: Recognisable coaches that could help grow and develop sporting teams, especially focusing on knockout competitions.

A quote that I believe in is: Palma Merenti (Latin) – the reward to the one who earns it.

Something funny that has happened to me was: I’m not flexible and I tried tying my shoelace up but fell through a wall!

A teacher at SMC I admire is:  Ms Packard as she has supported me throughout my schooling. From teaching me at the start when I was in Year 7, to coaching me on the netball court.  She has taught me many things.
