Lucia Hillary
College Leader
College Leader
My name is: Lucia Hillary
My Leadership role in 2025 at SMC is: College Leader
As a leader I would describe myself as: Always wanting to make people feel safe and included. I always want people to feel equal, and like they have the space to be themselves.
The thing/s that I do that I am the proudest of is/are: Write novels which I am working hard to publish traditionally one day
My favourite TV program/s is/are: The Vampires Diaries, Grey’s Anatomy and The Walking Dead.
My greatest sporting moment: Is winning at my first dance competition when I was younger and trying a range of sports over the years.
My favourite band is: Linkin Park
My favourite song/s is/are: All Too Well By Taylor Swift
Someone I admire: My Dad, for working so hard to support our family and inspiring my passion for music and writing. For someone who spent their 20’s in a rock band, riding motorcycles and can play more instruments than I can count, it’s funny how much he doesn’t want my boyfriend to follow any of the same routes.
My favourite book/s is/are: Is it wrong to say my own?
Funniest moment in my life was: My friend and I being too afraid to tell our Uber he was going the wrong way, and he drove us to a different city.
In my spare time I like to: Run, Cook, Write, Paint and find cute restaurants with my friends.
The best thing about attending SMC is: Feeling like it’s my second home and like I’m being set up for the future. Like I won’t miss out on anything, and I am fully supported to join the real world.
One chore I don’t like doing is: Mopping isn’t fun for anyone.
Leadership means to me: Inspiring the next generation of students to feel brave enough to step up.
I have a pet: A cat, whose name is Mr. Puss.
To be a Lasallian Leader means: “To honour everyone’s beliefs regardless of how different they are to your own.”
This year as a College Leader I wish to be best known as: “Someone who is approachable, easy-to-talk to and makes someone feel like they can be a leader even if they are shy or nervous at public-speaking.”
Five words which best describe my personality are: (From people in my life) Kind, Creative, Quick-witted, Inspiring and Imaginative.
A person I most admire is: My protective Italian Mum, who didn’t have the easiest start to life, but has loved me unconditionally and given me more than I could ask for. She is my biggest protector, and inspires me to have “forza,” everyday.”
If I could create one change for SMC in 2025 it would be: More awareness for male students about how important their treatment of women is.
A quote that I believe in is: “Hardships often prepare ordinary people for an extraordinary destiny.” I love that.
A teacher at SMC I admire is: Prof. Esposito, who is so dedicated and relentless as a language teacher and her passion for teaching conveys in all that she does.
Something interesting about me no one knows: I’m allergic to lavender, have a hypermobile thumb and I have done Ballet dance most of my life so in turn I can do the splits and stand on pointe.
