Brendan Talbot

College Vice Captain

My name is: Brendan Talbot

My Leadership role in 2025 at SMC is: College Vice-captain

As a leader I would describe myself as: Relaxed and approachable, always willing to help others and say yes to opportunities around the college and wider community.

The thing/s that I do that I am the proudest of is/are: being involved in the SANFL umpiring development squad because: I have the opportunity to train and learn from AFL umpires and I enjoy challenging myself and learning how to better umpire the game of footy.

My favourite TV program/s is/are: Ozark, Animal Kingdom, River Monsters

My greatest sporting moment: Representing and captaining South Australia for Touch Football

My favourite band/s is: Hilltop Hoods, Money for nothing – Dire Straits, Joker & the Thief – Wolfmother, I will wait – Mumford & Sons

Someone I admire: My Grandpa Frank, he’s always helping others out and making people smile. He is kind and encouraging and always reading and learning about something new.

My favourite book/s is/are: The Scythe Series

Funniest moment in my life was: Dropping my phone into a river while fishing… twice

In my spare time I like to: I love to fish any time I can, I also enjoy camping and the great outdoors, as well as footy and cricket.

The best thing about attending SMC is: The great sense of community and the opportunity to grow as a learner and a person in a positive, nurturing environment.

One chore I don’t like doing is: Hanging out everyone else’s washing

Leadership means to me: The willingness to sacrifice in order to help others, to go outside of your comfort zone and to set a positive example.

I have a pet: toy poodle whose name is Ninja

To be a Lasallian Leader means: Fostering a strong sense of community and to be willing to make sacrifices to help others.

This year as a College Leader I wish to be best known as: Someone who is easy-going, approachable and friendly. Also to be known as being hard-working, willing to make sacrifices to help others and the SMC community and to always lead by setting a strong example.

Five words which best describe my personality are: Understanding, Resilient, Dedicated, Compassionate, Integrity

If I could create one change for SMC in 2025 it would be: Students to have a greater say in school guest speakers and topics. Whilst the current line-up of guest speakers is outstanding, having a student voice on which guest speakers come in could boost student engagement.

A quote that I believe in is: The harder you work, the luckier you get.

A teacher at SMC I admire is: Mrs. Sykes
Why? She is always willing to offer help, extremely passionate about education and provides an upbeat and positive classroom environment.

Something interesting about me no one knows? I fish around the state in competitive kayak fishing tournaments.
