Avani Grewal

College Leader

My name is: Avani Grewal

My Leadership role in 2025 at SMC is: College Leader

As a leader I would describe myself as: Kind, Determined, Proactive

The thing/s that I do that I am the proudest of is/are: Fly because: it is a difficult career to pursue but I have had the support and opportunities to learn and refine my skills through my instructor.

My favourite TV program/s is/are: The Rookie, Friends

My greatest sporting moment: Basketball finals in year 8

My favourite band/s is: One Direction

My favourite song/s is/are: Too hard to choose I enjoy a combination of music

Someone I admire: My Mum and my Defence Mentor

My favourite book/s is/are: I don’t have one, but I enjoy reading romance, dystopian, and self-help books.

Funniest moment in my life was: too many core memories to choose from

In my spare time I like to: Cook, try new cuisines, go the gym, and spend time with my family.

The best thing about attending SMC is: Creating relationships with teachers

One chore I don’t like doing is: vacuuming the house

Leadership means to me: Leadership to me is about positively influencing your team to achieve a common goal, I enjoy working with people and immersing myself in anything I can which helps people and my community.

To be a Lasallian Leader means: Leading with kindness, patience, love and leading by example in the values of St John Baptist De La Salle.

This year as a College Leader I wish to be best known as: being present and doing what I can for the St Michael’s community.

Five words which best describe my personality are: Genuine, determined, loyal, ambitious, compassionate

A person I most admire is: My Mum and my Grandpa both have been important figures in my life who have helped me through my many failures.

A quote that I believe in is: ‘Winners are losers who got up and gave it one more try.’ I believe that if you don’t fail and accept defeat and failures with pride you won’t grow, learn and succeed. Some of the most successful individuals have failed time and time again and when they felt their lowest they succeeded.

A teacher at SMC I admire is:   Mr Winston
Why? Mr Winston showed me immense support in times where I felt down and did not believe in myself.

Something interesting about me no one knows. My Mum has survived a Tsunami which caused damaged to a city in India.
