‘Where Words Once Were’ Year 12 Drama Production
Finegan Kruckemeyer’s thought-provoking play ‘Where Words Once Were‘ was presented by the Year 12 Drama Class on Wednesday and Thursday of Week 4. This meaningful and symbolic play was a perfect choice for the Year 12s final show together. It allowed each student to showcase their strengths while giving them some meaty and challenging content to explore.
‘Where Words Once Were’ asks the audience to consider the beauty and importance of languages. It highlights that it is through our language that we express our culture, our beliefs, and our identity. This story takes place in the autumn of humanity, and the cyclical nature of life and histories is reflected in the circular movement and curvature of the stage design features, designed by Year 12 student Emma B.
“From the first time we read the play together, to the cast taking their final bow, this was a was joyful and memorable learning experience. The strong relationships and dramatic skills developed in the class will stay with students for years to come. Congratulations to the 2023 Year 12 Drama class for their beautiful and complex production.” – Emily Burns, Drama Teacher
