Human Resources Manager

Duration: 1.0 FTE Full-time (Permanent)
Position: 48 weeks / 37.5 hours / 5 days per week
Location: Henley Beach Campus
Additional: Flexibility of working hours and days will be required during peak workload periods

St Michaels College is a Catholic co-education school in the Lasallian tradition which is committed to the human and Christian education of the young, especially the poor, through: Community, Challenge and Choice.

Employing around 280 staff across the Secondary Campus (Henley Beach) and Primary Campus (Beverley), St Michael’s College is the second largest independent school in South Australia with enrolments of circa 2,300 students.  After a recent $30m upgrade to its Primary Campus, the school is investing over $100m over the next 10 years to ensure its Secondary Campus remains a leader in educational excellence.

Reporting directly to the Business Manager, and working closely with the Principal, Deputy Principal – Staff and Strategy and Deputy Principal Head of Primary Campus, key responsibilities include:

  • providing strategic HR leadership to support workforce capability, succession planning and organisational culture in alignment with the College’s Strategic Directions;
  • managing the human resources and payroll functions of the school and offering excellent support to staff in line with the College’s Catholic Lasallian ethos;
  • delivering efficient strategic and operational HR activities including recruitment and employment processes, industrial relations services, workers compensation and return to work support, professional development and performance management;
  • working closely with Catholic Education of South Australia to implement the new HRIS (Dayforce);
  • providing leadership to and development of a small team comprising HR Payroll Officer, HR Coordinator and Front Office staff (Henley Campus).

Applications are invited from both emerging and proven HR professionals with relevant tertiary qualifications and demonstrated experience building purposeful people and culture capability, partnering and frameworks.  Team leadership experience, or the readiness to step into a leadership role, change management, IR/ER, policy development, workforce planning, leadership and culture development experience will be important.

Education sector experience, or a comparable human services domain will be well regarded.  Authenticity, agility, engaging leadership, highly effective interpersonal skills and strategic thinking capabilities are important qualities for success.
