Serious Podcast Business
Well, we all know the power of a good story, they can make you laugh, cry, and scare you to bits. Stories also help us make sense of the world. On the auspicious day of the Winter Solstice a band of merry podcasters called Marko, Bodhi, Thomas, and Bailey ventured forth to Thebarton there to discover that not only could they write and record to a deadline, but they could also work creatively with students from across the ARCH D programme.
The 2023 Podcast Leaders Day did not disappoint, and the students had a chance to learn from industry professionals Ali Clarke (Mix 102.3 Breakfast) and Tom Basso (Triple M Rush Hour Producer, and multiple Arch D Award winner from his time as a Rostrevor student!). We also discovered the rollicking good tale of Desert Turtle. Over the course of just a few hours students worked in groups to script and record an original story based on various prompts. All stories were recorded and will drop onto Spotify into the next few weeks.
Meanwhile back at the Primary Campus last week we recorded our first ever LIVE vodcast. Thanks to the following students who committed to Friday lunchtime this term to make this happen – Bodhi, Thomas, Julius, Brodie, Nate G, Alexander, Thomas M, Bailey, Marko, William, Mitchell, Vilgot, Nate, Jake, Kit and Tex.
This episode is a great mix of wacky and serious and reflects what students have been learning in school not just in class but round and about in their everyday connections. Also, thanks to Riley from Marketing and Michaela Howard-Jones from ARCH D who did all the technical wizardry. We’ll be sure to let you know when the episodes drop.
At the Primary Campus we are all so proud of the way our students can rise to the challenge when given the space and responsibility to create. And just quietly, I think we have a fair bit of talent developing.
