Careers & VET: Further Updates and Information
Fee Free TAFE
On 26 September we welcomed the announcement of the extension of the Fee Free TAFE initiative with over 4,000 additional Fee Free TAFE places being made available at TAFE SA each year for the next three years commencing in 2024.
Fee Free TAFE and vocational education is a joint initiative of the Federal and State Governments providing tuition-free training places to students wanting to train, retrain or upskill.
The extension of this initiative represents a significant investment in training delivery in South Australia and will support industries facing skills shortages, growth industries and emerging sectors, creating more opportunities for South Australians to access new and high-level skills in priority areas such as:
- Care (aged care, childcare, health care, disability care)
- Hospitality and tourism
- Technology and digital
- Construction
- Agriculture
- Sovereign capability (for example manufacturing, and defence), and
- VET workforce
Fee Free TAFE is intended for new students to the course being offered. Students need to be new to the course, not new to TAFE SA.
People from the following groups are strongly encouraged to apply:
- First Nations Australians
- Young people (17-24)
- People who are out of work or receiving income support payments
- Unpaid carers
- Women facing economic insecurity
- Women undertaking study in non-traditional fields
- People with disability including autism and neurodivergence
- Certain categories of visa holders
Visit the TAFE SA website for further details.
