From the Principal

Dear St Michael’s College Community,

Primary Academic Assembly & New Student Welcome

Wednesday 23 March saw the Primary Campus hold its first assemblies of the year. These provided an opportunity to recognise student Academic Achievement from Semester 2, 2021 and, welcome new students beginning their learning journeys at St Michael’s College. The Primary Campus has had a significant growth phase with 4 classes of Reception students beginning an R – 12 education at St Michael’s College.

The Assemblies were ably led by the Primary Campus leaders and saw 73 students from Year 1 through to Year 6 receive Academic Awards for the Semester 2, 2021 reporting period. We officially welcomed 60 new Reception students and another 18 students across other year levels were welcomed and presented with acknowledgement certificates.

This has been the first opportunity to welcome and celebrate student success for the year. The assemblies were held outdoors which provided the opportunity for parents and caregivers to celebrate with us.

COVID Update

As we navigate through the difficulties of COVID-19 in schools, I acknowledge and thank the St Michael’s College staff for their commitment in working with students and their families to continue to provide a positive learning and wellbeing culture. I also would like to thank parents and caregivers for their ongoing support, particularly around communication with us regarding positive cases or close contacts.

There are a number of varying media reports about what might or might not happen regarding the current COVID-19 situation in schools in South Australia. We will continue to be guided by SA Health and Catholic Education South Australia and will inform our community at the earliest possible time.

I encourage you to continue to stay in contact with your child’s pastoral/class teacher to ensure their learning and wellbeing needs are being met. This is particularly important if they are isolating and working from home.

Stay safe everyone.

Kind regards,

Damian Patton
Acting Principal
