Co-curricular

TERM 1 PRIMARY SPORT

While the challenges of COVID-19 have impacted the beginning of the 2022 school year, this did not deter students from participating in our co-curricular sporting program. The Primary Campus fielded an incredible 20 sporting teams in Term 1 that competed in weekly and Saturday morning sporting competitions. These competitions include the Sports Association for Adelaide Schools (SAAS), Catholic Schools Competition (SACPSSA), South Australian Primary Schools Competitions (SAPSASA), Basketball SA, and the Woolworths ‘Woodville South’ Master Blaster Cricket Competition. The Early Primary students were provided with a Kelly Sports multi-sporting program participating in activities such as lacrosse, hockey, t-ball, and athletics while also having opportunities to participate in our own Joey Cricket Program with over 70 students. The Upper Primary students also participated in extracurricular sporting carnivals during the weekday including Catholic Schools SACA Cricket Cup, internal swimming trials, SAPSASA Swimming Carnival, and the Catholic Schools Swimming Carnival.

2022 SACA Cricket Cup

16 of our Year 5/6 students participated in the 2022 Schools SACA Cricket Cup Carnival held at the Karen Rolton Oval. The boys showcased their cricket skills against other private and public schools from across the state. Well done to the team who managed to win an amazing seven out of the eight games played!

2022 Internal Swimming Trials

40 St Michael’s Primary students nominated to participate in our internal swimming trials held at Seaton Swim Centre. The students competed in a variety of swimming events including freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly. The successful students at the trials were selected to represent our school at various swimming carnivals held in Term 1. An awesome effort by all involved.

2022 SAPSASA Swimming Trials

On Wednesday 30 March, six primary students participated in the annual Western District Sport SA Swimming trials held at Immanuel College. The boys were selected from our internal trials and competed in a variety of swimming events including freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly. It was great to witness the boys swim against other local western district schools. The successful swimmers will have an opportunity to represent the Western District Zone at the SAPSASA Sport SA Metro State Swimming Carnival to be held at the SA Aquatic and Leisure Centre next term.

2022 South Australian Catholic Schools Swimming Carnival

On Monday 21 March, 24 students participated in the Annual South Australian Catholic Schools Section 1 Swimming Carnival held at George Bolton Swimming Pool at Burnside. This carnival has on display some of the best Catholic School swimmers from across the state. The boys competed in a variety of swimming events including open medley, freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly, and freestyle relays. There were some outstanding and notable achievements throughout the day. Congratulations to Brodie Didyk who was named the Year 3 age group champion, as well as all the Year 3 and Year 5 swimmers who were crowned as year level champions for the day. Well done to all involved!
