YEAR 11 AND 12 WORK EXPERIENCE AT SAHMRI

SAHMRI offers a selective work experience program to introduce secondary school students to some of the many career options available in the medical research field. The program aims to develop students’ understanding of medical research and how research is transformed into health outcomes.

Students will gain a practical understanding of the different types of work in our research areas which may help when making your future career and university decisions.

This is a highly competitive program, students who wish to be selected should start working on their applications now. There is no single type of application that will succeed, however here are a couple points to give you an idea of the factors considered in applications:

  • Demonstrated interest, ability and/or engagement in science. (This can be demonstrated through achievement and engagement in science subjects at school but this is not the only way – we’d love to hear if you’re simply interested in science).
  • Demonstrated interest in medical research.
  • What are you hoping to get out of the program?
  • Relevant personal goals which participation in the program would help you achieve.
  • Relevant personal qualities that would contribute to your ability to effectively engage with the program.
