Careers and VET Services
Welcome to 2023 Careers and VET Services
We are in celebratory mode here as we track each of our 2022 graduates; 75% of students are going on to study with 98% securing their first or second SATAC Preference and over 10 students moving from their School Based Apprenticeship into full time formal apprenticeship contracts and many other success stories.
Each week we hope to provide an update of what information has been sent to students so parents and caregivers can be in the loop. In general, Careers information is either emailed to students or put into Daily Notices which Parents and Caregivers can also access.
Most of the information will be accessible on SEQTA Via the black and green Careers and VET Tile.
Any PowerPoint presentations can be found under Important Info: Presentations.
In Week 1 we presented to Year 11 and Year 12 students and these PowerPoints can be found on the Careers and Vet Portal.
This week we presented upcoming VET opportunities to Year 10 students and this information can be found in the Year 10 Portal. We also held a meeting on Thursday for students interested in the UCAT, Medicine, Dentistry and Oral Health Pathways. Concession and Special Provision UCAT applications are now open.
We have extended the invitation for students wanting to pursue a USA Sports College Scholarship to visit the LEC Desk and book in an appointment with Ms Coorey.
We also launched the 2023 Work Experience program emailing all Year 11 and Year 12 families with information (email sent by Nikki Tidd Thursday 2nd February: 2023 COMPULSORY WORK EXPERIENCE PREPARATION SESSION).
Please note that Work Experience is not just for VET students. It may be beneficial for Year 11 and or Year 12 students to consider even a 1-3 day block of Work Experience in the set holiday times to test out career pathways. Any Year 11 and 12 students considering a work experience placement at some point during the year should register via the link sent to them in the email to attend the upcoming preparation session in Week 5. This is the first compulsory step.
Students are to be congratulated for the way they have committed themselves to their school and VET studies – we are very impressed with their enthusiasm and focus.
